Well, maybe not kill but at least torture via sleep depravation. If you read my earlier post about dogs you know I’m a HUGE dog lover. Always have been, always will be.

We’ve always had pairs of beagles, for like 20 years. Then one day 11 years ago I was in the pet store and the adoption people were there with the cutest hound dog I had ever seen and his voice just melted my heart. His name was Bugsy and I went out to the car with the dog food I purchased and told my wife and kids “If we were ever going to get a third dog, he’s in there right now!” They came in and fell in love with him and he’s still with us – his name is Bugsy.

Bugsy, we were told, was part Rhodesian Ridgeback and part Coon-Hound but they couldn’t be sure. Whatever he was, we were sold. Such an incredible personality. When we lost the two beagles over time Bugsy was alone and we could feel his sorrow. His ears were low all of the time, his tail as well. he followed everyone around as if he was simply lost. We knew we had to get another – but this time we went for full on Rhodesian.

We found a breeder who, of course, deals mostly in show dogs which we had no interest in. She would sell a few from her litter to pet homes but that was it. We lucked out, because all puppies were spoken for over the next 24 months, but at the last minute one show dog home fell out of the running so we scored.

This is Tesla. She is 11 month and 94 pounds-of pure love! We have never had such a sweet and caring dog. She’s also wicked smart. You can look in her eyes and I swear you can see her “thinking”. Beyond unconditional love, this dog can sense your mood and react accordingly. It’s crazy. So, crazy is as crazy does, we contacted the breeder and said “if you have another litter from these parents, we want one!”.

Last week we brought home Heisenberg. No, his name has nothing to do with Breaking Bad, Werner Heisenberg was a Quantum Mechanics bad ass to say the least.

We felt like Tesla would stop harassing Bugsy so much – so much that in this case he put her in the corer for acting too much like a puppy LOL. And, that Berger would have play mate. So far, so good other than lack of sleep. He and Tesla play like crazy and Bugsy is clearly enjoying his time on the couch away from the crazy puppies.
